AFI-Uplift gets silver

UK based access rental company AFI-Uplift has been awarded ‘Investors In People silver status.

The award is given to the top 1.5 percent of participant companies in the UK and acknowledges excellence in management effectiveness and areas such as the involvement and empowerment of employees and the active support for their personal and professional development.

The silver accreditation involves meeting 76 criteria in the improvement of employee management, over and above the 39 criteria required for the base standard. The assessment covered AFI’s 20 depots, support centre, head office, Resale operation and the activities of its sister company, ITS.

Mark Wem the Investors in People assessor, said: “I was impressed by the genuine commitment displayed by AFI in relation to the health and safety of its employees and customers. This was reinforced through promotion, compliance and training in relation to health and safety matters.”

AFI director Geoff Gibson added: “We are delighted to receive the silver award. It not only recognises the investment that we put into our people, but also the investment of our people in the company at every level. I would like to thank them all for the commitment they show day in and day out in making AFI a successful and progressive company.”

AFI will have completed 789 training days for its 261 employees during 2011, in addition to its NVQ vocational training, IOSH courses and company-funded evening courses.

Training sessions during the year have included 170 days of external manufacturer training and an in-house training programme for its service engineers, a Pre Delivery Inspector assessment programme, health & safety and manual handling training courses, and a five day sales training programme for all account managers and senior managers including directors.
