Kato to Kranlyft in UK

Kato Parts & Service, the long established UK arm of the Swedish based Kranlyft group is changing its name to Kranlyft UK Ltd.

Directors John Hornby, Terry Marnock and Paul Rosevere announced that the name change will take effect from May 1st 2005.

Sales Director Paul Rosevere said, “The name change makes sense on many levels. There are advantages in presenting a global brand, particularly as our business develops across Europe and the Kranlyft name is already well known throughout the rest of Europe.”

Six years ago Kranlyft became the sole European distributor for the Maeda range of mini crawler cranes in addition to the popular Kato range of City, Truck and AT cranes which it has handled for many years. The name change will allow the UK company to develop its own identity, better reflecting the fact that it does more than just sell and support Kato crane products.

The representation of Kato Works Co products will remain an important part of the business, ready for when Kato returns fully to the European market.

Kranlyft UK will once again be exhibiting the Maeda range of mini crawler cranes at SED.

Vertikal Comment

When Kato UK was founded, its sole business was the sales and support of Kato cranes, a job that it and the Kranlyft group excelled at. Over the years the company has taken on other product lines, including the Economy range of scissor lifts, for which it achieved UK market leadership in the early 1980’s and more recently the Maeda product range. In spite of that the group has retained the Kato name. This change makes eminent sense, both on a group commonality/image level and also in that it better reflects its more diversified product offerings.
