A high wire act

This photograph sent in by a reader apparently comes from Yongkang in central Zhejiang province, China. A city to the south of Shanghai.

The linesmen are clearly working at some height and have no form of access equipment, one assumes that like linesmen in most countries they are still obliged to climb the towers, however unlike others they have no cradle to work from when moving out along the wires.

Two men working on the lines - A Death Wish?

The two do appear to have harnesses with fairly long lanyards, how they would be rescued if they slipped is an interesting one.

While all manner of access methods are still used for this type of work, we still think this qualifies for our Death Wish series. We would love to hear from any experts in the overhead transmission field.
