The carriage on the UK's largest Forklift has seven forks to support the 13m hot steel bars

The machines are utilised for handling of steel billet up to 13 metres long and temperatures exceeding 800 degrees Celsius. At this length and temperature the billets can distort so each machine is fitted with a 10 metre wide carriage with 7 forks fixed at pre-set pitches.

SMV Konecranes design engineers worked in close consultation with MultiServ’s own engineers to design and develop the front lifting equipment.

The two 60 tonne machines form part of a contract that also supplied two 54
tonne fork lifts and an 18 tonne capacity ingot handler to Aldwarke while two 52 tonne and a 25 tonne capacity forklifts were supplied to MultiServ’s Scunthorpe operation.
