John Hocking dies suddenly

We have learnt today of the sad and premature death of John Hocking, technical director with PAC the UK based access and lifting notified body.

John was 70 and is veteran of the UK access industry having been involved in most aspects of it at one time or another. He entered the business in the mid 1970's working with Tirfor as the first Mark dealer in the UK, latrer on he became a Manufacturer, founding Pegasus, to produce a dumper mounted lift followed by a purpose built All Terrain lfit.

Some 10 years ago he joined IPAF as an engineering consultant to PAC and most recently was a founder-director of PAC Ltd following its MBO from IPAF in January 2004. He has been involved with EN280 and powered access regulations since the very begining.

John was a thorough professional and in his most recent career, a major asset to the industry as a whole. He will be sorely missed.

His funeral is scheduled for Monday, 12th September, 2005 in Wrexham, North Wales.
