New MD for Manlift Group

Dubai based Manlift Group appointed Tom Cunningham as managing director this summer, taking over from John Ashcroft, who has retired.

Tom Cunningham

Cunningham, an American previously based in Paris, is new to the access industry and joined the company in July. He has responsibility for all Riwal operations in the Middle East, India, Kazakhstan, Africa and Asia. He was previously president of Oldham, a manufacturer of gas detection and other safety systems based in Arras. The business was recently sold by its owner Industrial Scientific – prompting his departure.

Prior to that he spent seven years at medical device specialist Medrad, where he was director of engineering, research and development. He began his career with AT&T Bell Laboratories as a senior technical associate, before moving to Intel, where he spent six years, starting as a product engineer and ending up as a design engineer.

Manlift is expanding rapidly in the Middle East, but is also stepping up its activities in India as the business moves towards its fourth year.
