UK platforms the errant access rental business, taken in hand by Haulotte last March, has been reformed and is opening a new 26,000 sq ft rental depot in Crawley, near Gatwick. The new operation opens next week and will build up to a fleet of 200 units between now and the end of the year.

Sales Director Kevin Smith says “the opening of this new depot highlights our commitment to our customers and staff and offers a competitive service in the South London and surrounding areas"

The company has also relocated its Wednesbury depot in the West Midlands to larger, more suitable premises. This will, it says, allow it to increase the local fleet from 100 to 140 lifts by year end and up to 200 during 2006.

Tony Stokes, previously with Nationwide, joined UK platforms as operations director in March. Speaking to Vertikal.Net he said " The relocation of this depot has given us the opportunity to increase our market share in the West Midlands and surrounding areas by adding machines to the fleet that were previously not available to hire from the old location, we have already seen a 20 percent increase in revenues"
