He began his career as a field mechanic for Jungheinrich and then joined Toyota forklifts, followed by Crown Equipment where he was a branch rental manager, initially managing three branches in Cologne, Dortmund and Hamburg, before being promoted to national rental manager for Germany.

In his new position he reports to Enrique Garcia Delgado, Snorkel regional sales manager for Europe, who said: "Ralf brings a wealth of experience and a focus upon continuous improvement to Snorkel, which will be key to his success in managing this region."

Hartmann added: "I am very excited to be joining Snorkel as the company enters a new phase of growth. There are many similarities between the aerial work platform and forklift industries, and I am looking forward to bringing my experience to a new product and sector, and helping Snorkel to grow in the key markets of Germany, Switzerland and Austria."
