Lonnie Ernest Duncan, Jr - 1929-2014

Lonnie Ernest Duncan junior, better known as Ernie Duncan, founder of Californian aerial lift rental company ADCO has died age 84. He passed away on Monday March 31st following a long battle with cancer.

Duncan was born in St. Joseph, Missouri and moved to California with his family as a teenager. He began work as a pressman at the Los Angeles Times, work on the night shift printing the paper. During the day, he and a partner began buying and renting construction equipment. As the rental business grew he was able to give up his job at the paper and focus on the rental business.

He eventually bought out his partner and built the business, ADCO, into one of the largest independent aerial lift dealers in California. In 1998 he sold the business to United Rentals. While becoming involved in a number of ventures including support for charities such as Childhelp USA, he was also able to spend more time on sport, especially golf, skiing and fishing.

He is survived by his second wife Kimberlee, daughters Teena and Susan and three sons, John, Steven and Craig.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made, in his name, to St. Jude Memorial Foundation, 101 E. Valencia Mesa Dr., Fullerton, Ca 92835. The burial service was held on Friday 4th April, in Fullerton.
