40 years in rental

Paul Dixon is celebrating 40 years with UK rental company Clements Plant & Tool Hire today.

He joined the company from school in 1974, completed an Heavy Goods Vehicle apprenticeship and worked as an HGV mechanic, plant fitter, mobile service engineer and most recently as works manager. He is also a qualified HGV driver and PAL certified aerial lift operator.

To celebrate the occasion Dixon, 56, was surprised by Clements owners -John Jennings and Jim Longstaff and presented with a celebratory plaque, a mounted machine display, engraved hip flask and a fountain pen. In addition, his wife of 30 years, Lorraine joined the celebration and the couple were presented with tickets to an all-inclusive long-weekend break in Jersey with £400 spending money (£10.00 for every year served).

Jim Longstaff presents the 40 year plaque to Lorraine and Paul Dixon

Longstaff said: “Paul, (or as he is affectionately nicknamed ‘CRAB’) has been a fantastic servant to the company. He always has a smile and is an amazing font of knowledge for our younger team members. He’s happy to coach them and has a sixth sense when fault-finding, which is invaluable”.

Chairman John Jennings added: “Paul is one of four employees who have worked their entire career with the company and this is something that we are extremely proud of. He has seen a vast change in the business including ownership to Jim and myself and to attain 40-years with one firm is magnificent. It’s rare for companies to last this long, let alone individuals and Paul is a popular and valuable member of our Senior Management Team and we sincerely hope he will be with us to achieve 50-years with the company too”
