Talbert acquires Ferree

US heavy trailer and crane dolly manufacturer Talbert has acquired Ferree Trailers of Liberty, North Carolina.

While the two companies make many similar products, such crane boom trailers, low loaders/low-boys and trailing boom dollies, the acquisition also provides Talbert with several products, such as a range of speciality trailers that will take it into new market segments such as logging and pole carrying trailers.

Ferree has a 5,600 square metre/60,000sqft modern manufacturing facility in Liberty, which Talbert says will provide it with an opportunity to expand manufacturing and add a distribution centre on the East Coast.

Talbert president Andy Tanner said: “Ferree is a strong complement to the Talbert line. Like Talbert, it is known for high-quality trailers and a strong commitment to the customer. The acquisition provides us with a wider product offering to serve our customer needs and a large, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with quality people that offers tremendous opportunity.”

Greg Smith, vice president of sales & marketing added: “A significant number of Talbert trailers are sold up and down the East Coast. This new facility not only gives us the ability to increase production and reduce lead times, but also provides us a distribution point to access customers with reduced freight costs and delivery times. In the trailer industry, that is huge.”
