Rapid change

We have now confirmed that Alistair Jordan has stepped down as managing director of UK based Rapid Platforms and will be leaving the company at the end of September to pursue other interests.

The family owned company claims to be the oldest independent powered access company in the UK, having been in business for more 33 years. The business was founded and is owned by John and Carrie Jordan, Alistair’s parents, although he also owns some of the equity, as does Caroline Bird, one of the company’s directors and two other senior managers. He has worked in the business for more than 17 years and took over as managing director around 10 years or so ago.

Rapid Platforms, which is based in Bishops Stortford, near Stanstead Airport, to the North of London, will now be managed by Jim Jones, Caroline Bird and Richard Martin who jointly own Rapid Platforms Management Ltd, which also owns shares in the main business. They comprise an experienced team, having been with Rapid Platforms and in the access industry for many years.

Vertikal Comment

This is quite a surprise, Rapid Platforms is a classic family company, run on conservative lines with a long term strategy. The hand over from one generation to the other appeared to go very smoothly and looked to have been fully completed. We understand that Alistair Jordan has a property rental business in the North East, and is planning to do some consultancy work, while spending more time with his family.
