Training College ban
City & Guilds inspectors have imposed a ban, preventing the UK’s National Construction College’s five campuses from taking on any new trainees. The ban also stops the NCC signing off trainees who have already completed courses.
The College issued a prepared statement saying:
“Following a routine City & Guilds inspection into the assessment and verification standards at the National Construction College there has been a temporary suspension of our ability to register new candidates and to sign off existing candidates without the use of an external verifier.
“We have agreed an action plan with City & Guilds to address the points raised to regain a full set of accreditations.
“We will continue to provide a high level of training to the industry and are working to ensure that our candidates are not disadvantaged.”
The College is the countries largest construction industry trainer with over 30,000 trainees a year passing though its doors. It is a division of the CITB-ConstructionSkills organisation which is already fighting to maintain its status with barely 50 percent of the industry agreeing that the current levy and grant system should continue.,..
