Highcliffe takes first UniMat system
UK crane rental company Highcliffe Engineering has taken delivery of the first Universal Crane Mats UniMat aluminium load spreading system, following its launch at Vertikal Days.
Highcliffe initially took the system on a trail basis and has since purchased 20 modules – 12 measuring two metres by 500mm wide and eight measuring 1.5 metres by 500mm – which can be assembled to make up a standard set of four outrigger mats. The mats also feature high visibility detailing and the company’s branding.
Highcliffe director Lee Wolstenholme, said: “We have been on the lookout for something like this for some time. As a crane hire company, its ideal to have your own high specification mats to offer for hire with the crane where required. It gives the customer and our operator confidence that the outrigger loads will be spread properly. They are easy to transport to site and set up by hand. They also satisfy our customers stringent temporary works engineers requirements. We consider this purchase a perfect bolt-on service to offer our customers, increasing safety levels and revenues at the same time.”

Mike Allanson of Universal Crane Mats, added: “Further sales have been secured from Vertikal visitors and others, following the product launch at Vertikal Days in May. It was great to see so many familiar faces genuinely impressed with the product and happy to see the new system available.”
Available in eight configurations - one to six metre squared - the UniMat system has been successfully tested to 150 tonnes at the Lloyds British Testing facility.
