Cranes collide at Singapore yard
The boom of a crane on a new jack up rig collapsed on Sunday after it was struck by the boom of a shipyard crane at Sembcorp Marine’s Tanjong Kling Yard in Singapore. Three people were injured in the incident.
The dockside crane was lifting a bundle of scaffold planks from the rig – the Noble Lloyd Noble -to the quayside, when its boom collided with the boom of one of one of the cranes mounted on the rig damaging it and apparently causing it to drop.
The injuries were relatively minor, the worst being a broken arm, two of the three were taken to hospital. The damage may also cause a delay to the delivery of the rig.
