SED a success in spite of lower numbers

SED, the UK construction equipment exhibition, has concluded that its first show at the new Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby was a “fantastic success”.

20,600 visitors flooded through the gates roughly seven percent fewer than last years record 22,000. But still six percent up on 2004.

Given the poor weather and reports of the dreadful traffic problems, the organisers should be very happy with the results. In addition to this most exhibitors were very pleased with the quality of the visitors that they saw and the orders and enquiry levels received.

The organisers said “SED 2006 was a fantastic success despite the inevitable first-year teething problems of moving a show of this incredible size to a brand new venue. The new hard-standing surface of the 80-acre show really proved itself - as the rain did little to dampen the spirits of visitors and exhibitors alike – a definite advantage over SED’s previous venue Fen Farm”.

“Visitor numbers reached in excess of 20600, although this is subject to ABC audit. The registration team had trouble scanning everyone in due to the sheer volume of people who were literally flooding through the gates”.

“The SED team has received some overwhelming feed-back from exhibitors, who reported having an excellent show and confirmed that moving to Rockingham Motor Speedway was most definitely the right decision”.

“When anyone moves home, things are never perfect at first and SED was no exception. We have got to improve our traffic flow and car parking arrangements, which struggled to cope with the flood of cars we experienced. We will get this right next year”.

“We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2007 at Britain's biggest and best annual construction industry event."

Next year’s dates for SED will be the 22nd – 24th May
