Pink crane helps charity

American crane rental company Phoenix Crane Rental will be bringing its pink 36 tonne Terex T 340-1 truck crane to this year’s Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer organised by It’s The Journey.

The crane known as Stella has so far helped raise more than $125,000 for breast cancer programmes in Georgia over the last two years, and has been part of the event three years running. Stella will take part in the walk’s opening ceremonies in downtown Atlanta and the event will be held on 15th and 16th October.

The pink crane Stella takes part in a number of charity events each year as well as working on commercial and residential sites

Stella was commissioned in 2014 by Phoenix to expand its fleet and raise breast cancer awareness through the company’s charitable efforts. The crane is now a favourite among the company’s customers, and is specifically requested, keeping the crane and operator Jessica Ives, busy all week.

Phoenix president Mike Phillips said: “From lifting Chick-fil A cows onto billboards to filming a movie, Stella has done it all. In fact, our pink crane was on the set of Tom Cruise’s film Mena. Over the course of a week, Stella and Jessica lifted a plane during a key scene for the film. It was a first for the crane and our company. Our Pink T 340-1 is an important member of our crane fleet. Not only has it helped us raise awareness and money for breast cancer prevention and research, but it’s also a versatile unit that can travel to and from jobs quickly to maximise our return on investment.”

Leading up to the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, Phoenix will hold its second annual Crane Rodeo on 9th October with all proceeds from sales of raffle tickets, drinks, food and event apparel donated to It’s The Journey.
