GAP acquires Hewden Lewes

Scottish rental company GAP has acquired the Hewden depot in Lewes from the administrators and will re-open it, saving most of the jobs at the location.

The location, near Brighton in South East England, was a general rental store, with access equipment excavators and telehandlers. It has not yet been confirmed what equipment assets the company has acquired with the location, but we assume that any platforms have already been purchased by A-Plant, which acquired the access division.

The new location takes the number of depots in GAP’s network to 130, 20 of them in the London & South East region which employs almost 300.

Joint managing director Douglas Anderson said: “The investment is consistent with the company’s strategy of growing the business organically and through acquisition. The site improves our customer service capability in the region and is fully equipped with the most innovative plant and tool hire company in the industry. It is fantastic we can safeguard jobs in the area, especially in the run-up to Christmas.”
