Klubb opens new truck mounted plant

French aerial lift manufacturer Klubb formally opened its new 7,000 square metre facility yesterday, which will produce larger truck mounted lifts, including the Xtenso range based on designs acquired from the recent Comilev take over.

The new 7,000 square metre Klubb plant in Croissy-Beaubourg

The new plant, which is located on a 3.2 acre site in Croissy-Beaubourg, to the east of Paris, will begin with the manufacture of three telescopic truck mounts, the 18.5 metre Xtenso 3, 21 metre Xtenso 4 and 25.5 metre Xtenso 5, all of which feature straight telescopic booms plus a two section telescopic jib with 180 degrees of articulation.

The new facility joins the existing Klubb plant in nearby Ferrières-en-Brie which opened at the start of last year, See new van mounted lift manufacturer and builds van and light truck mounted lifts. The company says that production there has now reached 1,000 units a year, and hopes to manage 1,700 units with the addition of the new facility.

The new plant will focus on truck mounts

Chief executive Julien Bourrellis said: "Today the group is showing 20 percent growth, carried by the development of our export activity. The aerial platform industry is very competitive, with international actors supported by very aggressive financial backers. Our family run group must therefore find innovative ways to diversify in order to continue producing in France and develop further. Our investment in the production of truck-mounted aerial platforms is a major aspect of the strategy.”

An impressive display in the 3 acre yard

Looking briefly at the first new models to be built at the Croissy plant, the 18.5 metre Xtenso 3 offers up to 13.9 metres of outreach and is designed for a 14 tonne truck with flat bed or fully enclosed workshop bodywork.

The 21 metre Xtenso 4 on a 16 tonne chassis

The 21 metre Xtenso 4 is mounted on a 16 tonne truck and has an outreach of 16.4 metres. Finally, the 25.5 metre Xtenso5 is also mounted on a 16 tonne chassis and offers 20 metres of outreach. All three models offer 280kg unrestricted platform capacity and 180 degrees of jib articulation.
