Steve Barnett to retire

Steve Barnett, Manitowoc Cranes commercial director for the UK/Ireland and Scandinavia is to retire within the next few months, after a lifetime in the crane and equipment market.

He is calling it a day a year earlier than originally planned due to an urgent need for reconstructive knee surgery which has been required for a long time. The operation is scheduled around for early May and has a recovery period of up to 12 months,taking him up to his planned retirement date.

Over the next few months he will assist in the re-organisation of the UK/Scandinatian region which he manages in order to ensure a smooth hand over.

Barnett joined Potain UK in 1992 as UK sales manager for tower cranes. He became managing director in 1999 before integrating the UK distribution business with Grove and Manitowoc to what became Manitowoc Crane Group (UK) Ltd in 2004. He was instrumental in bringing together the three fragmented organisations into the newly created/purpose-built single facility at Buckingham in 2008.
