New depot for Star Platforms

UK rental company Star Platforms has opened a new depot in Thetford, Norfolk, its fifth location.

The company has appointed Stephen Carman as general manager of the new location, and orders have been placed for new aerial lifts from Skyjack and Niftylift, which are due to arrive in Thetford throughout the rest of this month.

The first aerial lifts arrive at Star Platforms' new depot

Carman joins Star Platforms from Carillion, where he was head of contract preliminaries for the past three years. Before that he was a regional sales manager at Nationwide Platforms having joined the company in 2011. He began his career as a branch manager with Hewden in 2000, and was promoted to operations manager tool hire three years later. In 2004 he became operations manager, plant and tools, and was promoted to sales manager in 2006 and area operations manager in 2007.

Joint managing director Richard Miller said: “We have a large demand from existing customers to supply equipment in the East Anglia region and with no Access Alliance member covering the area, we were compromising the service we offer. We therefore took the decision to open this depot in Thetford which has excellent regional road links including Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Essex and beyond.”

“We also had the opportunity to employ an excellent general manager, Stephen Carman, who previously worked in senior positions for Hewden and Nationwide Platforms and brings with him over 20 years’ experience in the rental sector. Stephen is very well known to us and the region and will help drive this business forward ensuring our customers enjoy the excellent levels of service they have come to expect from Star Platforms.”
