New investment and depot for Quick Reach

UK rental company Quick Reach has received a new £4.5 million investment from the Mercia EV Growth II Fund and opened a new location in Birmingham.

The investment is the second from Mercia and will allow the Manchester based company to double its fleet of powered access equipment and continue its geographic expansion. The new investment also gives Mercia a minority stake in the business.

John Barton of Quick Reach said: “We are also extremely happy with Mercia investment that now allows us to develop our branch network. As the industry and indeed the country moves into some uncertain times we are now well placed to move forward our new environmentally lead initiatives and invest further in staff and the new generation machines”

Jill Williams, investment director for the EV Growth II Fund added: “Quick Reach has become a well established provider of powered access equipment in a very short period of time. Its success has been underpinned by solid relationships with customers and suppliers and the industry experience of John and David. This funding will allow them to pursue their ambitious growth plans.”

The Quick Reach team at the new Birmingham location

The new Birmingham depot is located at Junction two of the M5 motorway, making it well suited to serve the Midlands region. The company has appointed Paul Wells as area manager, he has already recruited an experience team to run the new location. Wells joins Quick Reach from Platform Hire & sales where he held a similar position, having moved to the company from Nationwide Platforms in 2014. He began his access career with David Meek Access in 1992.

The new depot has already started to receive new equipment from Genie, Manitou and Skyjack, with the first batch of Nifty booms due to arrive shortly.
Barton said: “Quick Reach has a huge demand in the area and with the arrival of the new team, I am confident the facility will become an instant success. I have known Paul for many years and I know that he has knowledge, drive and enthusiasm that will ensure our customers will not only receive top quality equipment but excellent service. Paul has been joined by Richard ‘Dickie’ Porter and Amy Creswell along with a team of great engineers and drivers will propel the business forward very quickly”
