New Liebherrs for KLS

The recently created crane and heavy haulage group KLS Kran und Schwerlast has taken delivery of three new Liebherr cranes, a 70 tonne LTM 1070-4.2, 130 tonne LTM 1130-5.1, All Terrains and a 45 tonne LTF 1045-4.1 truck mounted crane. The company has also ordered a 450 tonne LTM 1450-8.1.

The four axle LTM 1070-4.2 has a 50 metre main boom and features a 9.5 to 16 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, while the five axle LTM 1130-5.1 has a 60 metre main boom and a 14 metre telescopic extension, while the four axle LTF 1045 has a 35 metre main boom and 9.5 metre swingaway extension which offsets up to 60 degrees, it is the company’s first truck mounted crane.

KLS Kran und Schwerlast was created earlier this year by the merger of Sommer Kranverleih from Bremen and KL Schwerlast from Bremerhaven. The KLS fleet includes 20 All Terrain and mobile self-erecting tower cranes with capacities of up to 500 tonnes. The company also runs a fleet of SPMTs and 10 tractor units. The two new All Terrain cranes have been delivered to the Bremerhaven location, while the LTF 1045-4.1 will be based at the company’s Bremen location.

KLS’ new LTF 1045-4.1 and LTM 1130-5.1

Managing director Björn Sommer said: “We can deploy the LTF 1045-4.1 very flexibly because it doesn't require special route approvals. The truck chassis offers advantages on the longer routes between Bremen and Bremerhaven, where we have been frequently on the road since the merger.”

Managing director Hagen Sommer added: “The capacity utilisation of our cranes is very good and we were still missing both of these crane types from our fleet. We purchased the LTM 1070-4.2 because it can also operate with an axle load of 10 tonnes. Approval free mobility is becoming increasingly important for us. We are able to use the LTM 1130-5.1 well as a fast erecting crane.”
