First LTM 1650-8.1 in Germany

German crane rental company BKL Baukran Logistik has taken delivery of the first 700 tonne Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 All Terrain crane to be delivered in Germany.

The eight axle crane was unveiled at Bauma last April as a 650 tonner and designed to replace the highly successful 500 tonne LTM 1500-8.1. The first was delivered to Mammoet last month.

The LTM 1650-8.1 can be supplied with telescopic boom lengths of 54 metres and/or 80 metres to cope with variable road configurations and preferences. The new crane will primarily be used to erect and dismantle tower cranes, including the company's flagship 50 tonne Comansa 21 LC 1050 tower crane.

The LTM 1650-8.1 adds to the top end of the BKL fleet

BKL owner Alexander Volz, said: “Taking delivery of the first LTM 1650-8.1 in Germany means additional performance for our customers and underlines our standing as a pioneer in the crane business. The strong lifting capacities of the LTM 1650-8.1 particularly impressed us. In addition, we also expect this Liebherr crane to retain its value as well as other models. That is important to us as we continuous invest in new machines so that the BKL crane fleet remains state of the art in both the mobile crane and construction crane segments.”
