New Genie telehandler

Genie has launched the new 17 metre/4,500kg GTH-1056 North American telehandler, which joins the well proven 11 metre/2,700kg GTH-636 and 14 metre/3,600kg GTH-846 models, with side mounted engine and stronger boom design. The GTH-1056 can handled 2,268kg at its maximum lift height of 17.25 metres and 1,361kg at the maximum forward reach of 12.8 metres.

The new telehandler comes with three power train options with a choice of a 120hp Deutz diesel and four speed powershift transmission, or a 74hp Deutz Tier 4f engine either with a three speed powershift or continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The 74hp diesel does not require DEF exhaust fluid and delivers a similar performance to the larger engine, but with at a lower cost with better fuel efficiency.

Maximum lift height is more than 17 metres

Both drive axles are equipped with limited slip differentials, while a new All Terrain Enduro tyre combines the characteristics of rock lug tires and conventional rough terrain telehandler tyres. A wide centre bar is said to offer reduced tyre wear on hard surfaces - extending the life by as much as a third - while self-cleaning outer lugs help maintain traction on soft, muddy ground. Maximum travel speed is 18mph.

Product manager Josh Taylor said: “Customers provided critical feedback after operating multiple units for hundreds of hours on real jobsites. Design enhancements focus on delivering reliable machine performance for increased productivity on even the most rugged and challenging of jobsites, while improving serviceability and lowering total cost of ownership. The GTH-1056 has undergone more testing than any other Genie telehandler previously brought to market. This simpler configuration, combined with a wider, stiffer horsehead efficiently transfers loads in applications imposing high stress on the boom, such as pipe handling or suspended loads.”
