Liebherr LTM 1120-4.1 for Steil

German rental company Steil Kranarbeiten has taken delivery of a new Liebherr 120 tonne LTM 1120-4.1.

Launched last year, the four axle crane features a seven section 66 metre main boom, one of the longest on a four axle chassis. This is topped by a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, which offsets by up to 40 degrees. A seven metre insert extends that to achieve the maximum tip height of more than 94 metres and a maximum radius of 64 metres. Features include the company’s VarioBallast and VarioBase systems.

Company owner Birgit Steil said: “The crane is a good addition to our very diversified fleet and replaces an older four axle 100 tonner with a shorter boom. The compact dimensions of the crane relative to its high lifting capacity were impressive, then there is the boom length and the VarioBase variable support base. The crane also benefits from being able to obtain permanent road permits because it travels at a gross weight of just 48 tonnes.”

Trier based Steil runs a fleet of 120 cranes, including telescopics up to a 500 tonne Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1, a rare 600 tonne Terex TC2800 truck mounted lattice, and crawler cranes up to the 650 tonne Demag CC 3800. This latest delivery follows a second 110 tonne Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 and the first Tadano GTC-1800EX telescopic crawler crane, both of which were delivered last month. It is also expecting a second 230 tonne Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 and a 60 tonne LTM 1060-3.1 over the next few weeks.
