Mammoet acquires Murphy winch fleet
Dutch international heavy lift and moving specialist Mammoet has acquired Land & Marine’s linear winch equipment fleet from UK contractor J Murphy & Sons.
Mammoet inherited a partnership agreement between
ALE and the Land & Marine subsidiary of Murphy with the
acquisition of ALE in 2020. It has now purchased the winch fleet and associated pipe pulling equipment - bringing it all in house.
In addition to Land & Marine’s 800 tonne capacity linear winches are a number of smaller linear winches ranging from 100 to 300 tonnes and a range of drum winches. The equipment will be added to Mammoet’s offshore services equipment fleet. The deal includes an agreement that Murphy/Land & Marine will continue to offer installation engineering support to future Mammoet linear winch operations.
Mammoet general manager of offshore services, Barnaby Mills, said: “Land & Marine has a well established reputation in the linear winch hire and pipe pulling market that Mammoet Offshore Services will uphold their standards whilst broadening our overall offshore services offering. The Land & Marine legacy, its specialist experience, combined with Mammoet’s innovative approach, makes for an exciting combination moving forward.”
Murphy’s natural resources sector director Andrew Ball, added: “We wish Mammoet Offshore Services all the very best going forward. We hope that with Mammoet’s global network, Offshore Services will successfully continue the legacy of Land & Marine linear winch hires.”
