First crane for Pekabex

Polish prefabricated concrete manufacturer and contractor Pekabex has purchased its first ever mobile crane, a 180 tonne Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2.

The five axle LTM 1160-5.2 features a 62 metre main boom plus a 19 metre bi-fold swingaway with hydraulic luffing. It also includes Liebherr’s VarioBallast counterweight and VarioBase outrigger setup systems.

Grzegorz Dużyński, Pekabex head of the assembly, said: “This is our company’s very first mobile crane. We were looking for a crane with a 180 tonne capacity, which can reach sites with difficult access. The LTM 1160-5.2 will make things a great deal easier for us. We often have to work on constricted sites with very heavy, large modules. We also needed a reliable machine which can manage the challenges posed by the growing number of homes we are building in Poland. The crane will also move between sites and be used both to build residential units and industrial buildings.”

Pekabex manufacturers approximately 230,000 cubic metres of prefabricated prestressed and reinforced concrete components from five facilities in Poland and further one in Germany. It is also a lead contractor for construction projects which involve prefabricated reinforced concrete components.
