Merlo boosts UK sales & marketing team
Merlo UK has appointed Gavin Smith as regional sales manager for Scotland, North East England and Northern Ireland. At the same James Knight has been takes on the role of marketing coordinator.
Gavin Smith joins Merlo after 10 years with John Deere distributor DKR Agricultural services, where he was sales manager. Prior to that he worked with Albamec for three years, only leaving when the business closed down at the end of 2011. He began his agricultural equipment career with Hamilton Tractors. Based near Glasgow, he will support the Merlo dealer network across his territory.

Gavin Smith
Smith said: “It’s great to be joining Merlo at such an exciting point in the company’s growth and development across the UK. I have sold the Merlo brand at dealer level for many years and as such I know the product is excellent. The innovative features and outstanding performance that the Merlo range can offer will appeal greatly to customers far & wide."
James Knight has worked as a supervisor in the retail trade while studying Journalism, and as part of his marketing duties he will focus on social media, marketing content creation and copy writing etc. Speaking of his appointment he said: “I have been absolutely blown away by how welcoming, transparent and open to new ideas Merlo UK has been. I am excited to be part of the Merlo family and look forward to working with the team on marketing projects going forward.”
