Manitou unveils the ULM 412H

The new machines are the same except for the capacity. Both have a maximum lift height of 4.3 metres with a 1,250kg or 1,500kg lift capacity, both of which can be handled at the full 4.3 metre lift height and up to 1.2 metres forward reach. Maximum forward reach is 2.62 metres with a capacity of 450kg and 550kg respectively.

Power comes from a three cylinder Yanmar Stage V/Tier 4 Final diesel, driving a two speed forward, two speed reverse hydrostatic transmission with standard four wheel drive, oscillating rear axle, four wheel steer and 290mm ground clearance. A Stop & Start option that cuts out when the machine is left idling is said to provide a reduction of around €10 an hour. The capacity of the hydraulic tank is also reduced by around 25 percent thanks to an anti-aeration filter and an electronic compensation eliminating the need for a compensating cylinder.

The ULM weighs between 2,500 and 2,900kg and is 1.49m wide by 3.47m long

The new telehandler has been designed for easy transport on a two axle equipment trailer towed behind a 4x4, with an all-up weight of between 2,500kg and 2,900kg depending on specification. The unit has an overall length of 3.47 metres, an overall width of 1.49 metres and an overall height of 1.92 metres. It has been designed entirely by Manitou’s design office at Laillé (Ille-et-Vilaine) where the company will produce all of its ‘super compact’ telehandlers.

The lifts are aimed at a wide range of end users in construction, agriculture and landscaping. A range of attachments has been designed specifically for this model, including pot clamp, branch cutter, Big Bag handler and snow blade. Cab entry is easy with no step, while visibility is unrestricted through 360 degrees. A screen on the dashboard displays all of the information required to operate the machine, in the form of pop-ups. The joystick is positioned as standard on a floating armrest, and two vents are situated below the windshield for optimal demisting.

Product manager Camille Rouvrais said: "We worked with our design office to find an innovative solution that provides even more safety and comfort. We replaced the roof grille with a transparent, shock resistant polycarbonate window, which complies perfectly with the requirements of the FOPS standard."

Deliveries will start in the third quarter in Europe, North America and Australia. An introductory offer will be made for the first 180 machines produced with free Stop & Start option, pneumatic cloth seat, four year warranty and an attachment supplied, in addition to the forks carriage.
