New 450t Tadano for Emil Egger

Swiss crane company Emil Egger has taken delivery of a new 450 tonne Tadano AC 7.450-1, while a 160 tonne Tadano AC 5.160-1 is due to be delivered in April.

The seven axle AC 7.450-1 features a seven section 80 metre main boom plus a wide range of extensions that can be built up from eight to 70 metres with offsets of up to 40 degrees. Additionally, a 24 to 81 metre luffing jib can be mounted on a 47.3 metre main boom to provide a maximum tip height of 135 metres. The new crane also features the manufacturer’s new SSL Sideways Superlift design. The Superlift arms are now mounted to the top of the main boom base section, allowing them to be longer and thus boosting their effectiveness taking capacities in certain boom positions beyond some eight axle All Terrains.

The new crane hand over

Managing director Michael Egger said: “The Tadano AC 7.450-1 came at just the right time as the seven axle crane closes a very specific gap that we’ve had in our fleet for a while. We also liked the Tadano Surround View camera system, which shows the maximum possible outrigger beam extension lengths and the counterweight tailswing radius. The Tadano Surround View also makes it significantly easier to optimally position the crane on site."

“As a result of these characteristics, we’ll be using the AC 7.450-1 primarily to erect tower cranes, as well as for concrete and modular construction work. We have several cranes from Lauf and Zweibrücken, including an AC 500-8 and an ATF 130 and are very excited about what we can expect from Tadano in the future.”
