New 150t for Southern Cranes & Access

UK based Southern Cranes & Access has taken delivery of a new 150 tonne Liebherr LTM 1150-5.3.

The five axle crane is equipped with a 66 metre, seven section main boom plus a bi-fold swingaway extension that offsets by up to 40 degrees. A seven metre insert can be added to take the maximum tip height to almost 95 metres and maximum radius to 72 metres.

The crane also features Liebherr’s latest Variobase variable outrigger set up system with automatic monitoring and can travel in the UK with 29 tonnes of counterweight, the bi-fold extension and hook blocks. The maximum counterweight is 45 tonnes.

Southern Cranes & Access has also ordered the crane with the engine shut down refinery kit, which it plans to install on all of the new Liebherr cranes. The kit includes over speed protection for operation in oil, gas and petrochemical applications.

Director Kelvin Prince said: “The crane for us was a no brainer complementing our five axle range extremely well and the 29 tonne onboard counterweight makes this machine one of the strongest cranes in its class. In the short time since the crane arrived here in Horsham, it has far exceeded our expectations.”

Southern Cranes & Access has its headquarters at Horsham, West Sussex and covers London and the South East with a fleet that includes All Terrains, mobile self-erecting tower and spider cranes as well as 360 degree telehandlers and a range of powered access equipment.
