LR 1500 for Stevenson

US rental company Stevenson Crane, Rigging and Heavy Haul has added a 500 tonne Liebherr LR 1500 crawler crane to its fleet as part of a crawler crane expansion programme.

The LR 1500 has a maximum lift height of 164 metres, a maximum radius of 144 metres and an overall working width of 9.1 metres. It is also relatively easy to transport with the largest components weighing no more than 45 tonnes and offering widths of three metres or less making it easy to move and set up on jobsites in and around the Chicago area.

The new LR 1500 ready to ship from the Liebherr Ehingen factory


The LR 1500 offers 28 percent more capacity on 84 metre main boom compared to its predecessor the 400 tonne LR 1400/2, and a 55 percent improvement with the 84 metre boom and 84 metre luffing jib. The crane has a 30 metre derrick boom/back mast and up to 260 tonnes of ballast with a derrick radius that can be varied from nine to 16 metres allowing the crane to work in tight spaces or while offering the maximum lift capacity.

Family owned Stevenson was founded in 1989, in the Bolingbrook suburb of Chicago and runs a fleet of around 2,500 units made up of cranes, aerial work platforms, telehandlers and forklifts. The crane fleet is topped by the 650 tonne Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1, while the new LR 1500 tops its crawler crane fleet.
