Terex all-electric utility platform

Terex Utilities will launch a 16.8 metre all-electric truck mounted aerial lift/bucket truck for the North American market early next month.

The superstructure of the Terex Optima platform is already available with battery power using the Hypower SmartPTO system from Viatec Terex invested in Viatec and SmartPTO in February. However until now the electric superstructure has been mounted on a diesel powered Class 6/7 Medium Duty chassis. It will now also be available on a 15 tonne/33,000lbs International eMV Series chassis from Navistar.

Director of marketing Joe Caywood said: “Terex Utilities was able to bring this bucket truck solution to the electric utilities two years ahead of industry projections. We are giving electric utilities a solution now to help meet their electrification and sustainability goals. Many utilities have sustainability goals with 50 percent electric achievement by 2025 and 100 percent electric by 2030. This solution can accelerate plans for electrification of their fleets.”

“We have been working on green solutions for more than a decade. During that time, we have learned what works and what doesn’t. It’s exciting to see these investments come to fruition with an all-electric bucket truck that is robust and designed to meet the specific needs of utility applications.”

The Terex Optima 55 eMV Series will make its debut at the Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference, from June 5th to the 8th, in Williamsburg, Virginia. First deliveries will also begin in June.
