LTM 1230-5.1 for Lelieur Levage

French crane rental company Lelieur Levage has taken delivery of a new 230 tonne Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 as part of its ongoing fleet renewal programme which will see the addition of 30 new cranes over the next couple of years. The LTM1230 replaces a 220 tonne LTM 1220-5.1 filling the slot between the company’s 130 and a 300 tonne cranes.

The handover

The five axle, single engined LTM 1230-5.1 features an eight section 75 metre main boom and a 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway for a maximum tip height of around 97 metres with a maximum radius of up to 76 metres. Other features include VarioBase outrigger set up, and VarioBallast adjustable counterweight, along with ECOdrive technology that helps reduce fuel consumption by adjusting its ZF TraXon gearbox to the ideal travel setting and also reduces noise emissions, while the ECOmode function does much the same for the superstructure functions.

Owner Eric Lelieur said: “The Liebherr cranes that we invest in are always state of the art and enable us to minimise our fuel consumption and reduce noise emissions. That means that they help to make work on sites as green as possible and ensure the well-being of the site workers and local residents.”

“We choose Liebherr for mobile cranes because the brand enables us to demonstrate our commitment for limiting our CO2 footprint and therefore satisfy the energy policy challenges of the world of tomorrow. Liebherr machines deliver excellent comfort and safety”, adds Lelieur. “The fact that all the models and different machines have the same controls is a major benefit.”

Family owned and managed Lelieur was founded in 1970 and is based in Dunkirk with operations in Calais and nearby Guînes in north east France. It runs a fleet of around 50 cranes topped by a 350 tonner, and includes All Terrains, telescopic crawlers, a mobile self-erecting tower crane, industrial pick & carry cranes loader cranes and telehandlers as well as offering rigging, haulage and storage services.
