New spider lift entrant

UK-based Premier Platforms has become the latest rental company in the UK to enter the spider lift rental market.

The company has taken delivery of a new Hinowa 17:75 MK2 at its Thirsk depot in North Yorkshire. The 17:75 offers 7.5 metres of outreach at an up & over height of 7.8 metres with a 230kg unrestricted platform capacity, on a machine that weighs 2,230kg and can pass through an 800mm doorway. The unit was purchased from Hinowa distributor APS.

Premier’s first spider lift

The company says that in recent months demand for spider lifts has increased significantly, to the point where it was constantly re-renting Hinowa machines to satisfy demand from its regular customers. It expects to add further units in the near future.

The handover - Thirsk depot manager Dan Williamson (L) with Mike Weatherill of APS

Premier Platforms was established by Leigh Farmer in 2010, some three years or so after he had sold his initial access business - Higher Platforms - to Lavendon/Nationwide Platforms. Today the company operates from three locations, Aylesbury in the south, Cannock in the Midlands and Thirsk in the north, with a fleet that includes articulated and telescopic booms to 86ft, slab electric and Rough Terrain scissor lifts, low lever lifts, trailer lifts and 3.5 tonne truck mounts... and now a spider lift.
