Swiss rental company Wyland Lift has taken delivery of three new Ruthmann hybrid truck mounted aerial work platforms including two 27 metre TB 270 Pro and a 23 metre TBR 230.
All three are mounted on the latest 3.5 tonne Mercedes chassis. The TB 270 Pro features a five section straight telescopic boom with up to 18.1 metres of outreach with a 100kg platform capacity. Maximum capacity is 250kg at up to 13 metres. The TBR 230 has a four section boom topped by a 2.3 metres jib with 185 degrees of articulation. Maximum outreach is 17 metres with 100kg or 13 metres with the maximum capacity of 250kg.
The hybrid technology includes a lithium battery system installed alongside the chassis engine, with a switchover control to change from engine to battery power and back, performance in battery mode is identical to that of the engine.
In order to compensate for the extra weight of the battery pack, the TB 270 Hybrid is installed on a 3.5t Mercedes Sprinter chassis with GRP-RA fibreglass suspension and a 45 litre tank while the passenger seat has been removed. The battery pack is recharged while travelling with recharge time from empty from two hours depending on chassis.
Owner Bernd Rindlbacher said: "Our customers will be happy, because they are now expecting more innovative work platforms and we have more planned for the future, but which models are in question will remain a surprise."
The new machines will be available from the company’s locations in Marthalen and Schaffhausen, with plans to open in Dübendorf over the next few months.
