Insulated spider for TreeSmiths

UK arborist TreeSmiths has purchased the first 23 metre CMC i23 insulated spider lift to arrive in the UK.

Launched earlier this year, the i23 is the first model in a new line of ‘i’ series insulated spider lifts with 46kV of insulation. It offers a maximum working height of 22.8 metres, a maximum outreach of 10 metres at an up & over height of 12 metres with the 180kg unrestricted maximum platform capacity.

Although the bucket platform is only 600mm square it still features 180 degrees of platform rotation. The unit has 400 degrees of slew, while the overall weight is 3,930kg. The unit was sold though and will be supported by CMC UK.

The insulation includes fibre boom inserts along with a highly insulated fibreglass material for the one person platform/bucket and special non-conductive oil in the hydraulic system. The new machine will make its debut on the CMC stand at the APF/Arb show in Warwickshire later this month.

The new lift is fully insulated for safer work around utility lines

Based in Itchingfield, near Horsham West Sussex, in south East England, TreeSmiths was established in 2012 by brothers Ben and Sam Smith and has grown steadily ever since, with younger brother Charlie also joining the company. In the years since then TreeSmiths has built a solid reputation working with both residential customers and utility companies, the latter of which has become a substantial part of the business - thus the investment in an insulated work platform.
