New Link Belt for TMC Cranes

US rental company TMC Cranes has taken delivery of a new 272 tonne Link-Belt 348 Series 2 lattice crawler crane.

The crane arrived over the summer and is aimed at the precast tilt up panel business in the southeastern United States. In one week alone, the 348 Series 2 lifted 38 precast panels for a new 4,500 square metre Main Event bowling themed entertainment complex in Lexington, Kentucky. It has also handled precast concrete sections weighing up to 68 tonnes and measuring four by eight metres.

The new Link 272 tonne Link Belt went straight to work

Based in Monroe, Georgia - due east of Atlanta - the company has already moved the new crane 16 times between short duration jobs.
Crane operator Matthew DeLoach said: “We have an H5 (348 H5) that we moved 41 times last year, so 16 times is not exceptional. We have the crew and experience to break these cranes down very quickly and get them on the road, we can breakdown a 348 with 45.7 metres of boom in three hours with no helper crane.”

“We set all the panels for this job in three days. The 348 Series 2 does well with pick and carry, also I love the cameras on this crane - there are no blind spots with winching up and down or turning.”
