Haulotte upgrades Caribbean distribution

Haulotte has appointed two new distributors in the Caribbean, Bamtel in Martinique and Carmo Pro in Guadeloupe, both belong to the GBH – Groupe Bernard Hayot and both have been working in formally with Haulotte for several years.

GBH was founded and is still chaired by Bernard Hayot who set up the company in 1960, initially in Poultry farming and the food retailing with Monoprix, today the company is mainly active in the import and distribution business in the French overseas territories with operations covering general distribution, manufacturing and retail, including food and spirits along with car dealerships, and other industrial activities. The group reportedly has around 15,000 employees in its three major divisions.

Bamitel recently celebrated 20 years in business and is based in Le Lamentin, Martinique, it also offers earthmoving equipment and forklifts alongside commercial vehicles.

Carmo Pro is based in Baie Mahault, Guadeloupe and also distributes Mecalec loaders, Cat earthmoving equipment and commercial vehicles from Iveco and Scania.

As part of the deal, the two companies have placed a new order for Haulotte equipment to strengthen their existing fleets, including the new Compact slab electric scissor lift models.

Haulotte‘s general manager for Africa Didier Mertens said: "We are pleased to consolidate our presence in the Caribbean with these two new partners. Bamtel and Carmo Pro are both trusted partners, recognised for their professionalism, their expertise and their sense of service. They immediately required specific technical training on the platforms in order to respond to any customer request."
