Fatal loader crane incident

A loader crane operator died after his crane came into contact with overhead power lines in Piotrków, southern Poland last Friday.

The man, 26, worked as a driver for the transport and telehandler rental company Tabor, and was preparing to unload some bulky items from the truck.
He had little choice but to stop under the power lines and raised the boom in order to slew it over the load, but it came too close to the power lines causing the electricity to arc to the boom and run to earth through the crane and him. He apparently died instantly and was declared dead at the scene.
