The 2023 exhibition calendar kicks off

The 2023 tradeshows kicked off last week with Baumag in Lucerne, Switzerland, with no masks or other requirements - the first time in more than three years.

The show demonstrated how smaller local events are growing in popularity with both exhibitors and visitors. Tomorrow Bauma Conexpo India opens its doors and will run through Friday.

Back at Baumag, Beatrice Burch, managing director of Nellos the distributor for Maeda, Reedyck and Winlet, had a simple explanation for the strong start to the show: "Swiss people simply want to touch something - even when the temperatures outside are wintry.” The strong turnout was clear, with almost all of the parking taken up from early on.

In total around 180 exhibitors took stands at what was the 20th Baumag. Some companies claimed to have had a particularly good show, such as Skyworker Trade which had a strong focus on Magni scissor lifts - built by Dingli - on its stand. Director Eric Hunziker said: "We have machines in stock and show them here with attractive prices."

Running every two years the next show is scheduled for early 2025 - final dates have yet to be announced.
