First Unplugged for East Coast

US rental company Sims Crane & Equipment has added a 250 tonne battery powered Liebherr LR 1250.1 Unplugged to its fleet, the first Unplugged model to be sold on the US East Coast.

Sims ordered the crane with 73 metres of boom, 94 metres of luffing jib and auxiliary boom nose, the company already runs regular Liebherr LR 1250.1s, as well as the 300 tonne LR 1300 SX. The new crane offers identical performance to the conventional model.
The battery can last up to eight hours, depending on the application and can also operate while plugged into a power outlet. Sims says that it will use the new crane on jobs such as amusement parks, hospitals and residential areas.

Wait... the diesel powered version doesn't plug in, so why is the electric version which you plug in (to charge AND operate without using battery) called unplugged?
