Spotted during a recent site inspection in the North East of Scotland, a scissor lift that has been adapted by an end user for installing plasterboard.
The guardrails on one side of the machine have been removed, as has the entrance gate which removes the fall protection from that end of the platform, we cannot tell from the photograph what he has done on the other end.

In the words of our correspondent: “A safety consultant doing a recent site inspection in the North East of Scotland spotted a scissor lift that has been adapted by the customer by removing the handrails and even fitting a little work table so they can use it for installing plasterboard, definitely one for the Death wish collection.”

Not only does this remove obligatory fall protection measures on two or three side of the platform, but it also weakens the long guardrail on the opposite side of the platform. While we have of course seen riskier methods, the man in the platform is working at a platform height of around four to five metres, a fall from this height can easily prove fatal and at the very least life changing. We agree that it is one for our Death Wish series.
Have a safe weekend
