Hanging on by a thread

Spotted by a reader, a video of a truck crane lifting and holding a mini excavator equipped with a hydraulic breaker, so that it can work on a cliff face in a quarry.

We are told that it was taken in China, although we have not been able to confirm that, nor can we confirm when it was taken.

We have seen this sort of thing before in Europe, notably in Belgium working on a chimney and Germany, and there are numerous examples if you look for them, but no matter how often you see such examples it still seems equally insane.

This particular application is possibly one of the craziest we have have seen, given the length of boom employed and its flex, while the ground on which the crane is set up on looks variable. At least it is a large crane - five or six axles, and the operator has placed decent sized mats under the outriggers.
A warning banner has been added to this version of the clip, stating the work was carried out by professionals and suggesting that you 'do not do this at home'.

Definitely one for our Death Wish series.

Have a safe weekend.
