Another Brazilian acquisition for Loxam

Loxam’s Brazilian subsidiary Loxam Degraus (Degraus Andaimes, Máquinas E Equipamentos Para Construção Civil) has acquired A Geradora (A Geradora Aluguel De Máquinas) a national rental company that specialises in generator and lighting tower rental, as well as aerial work platforms – mostly booms up to 130ft and scissor lifts up to 33ft largely Haulotte machines.

Based in Salvador de Bahia, A Geradora was established in 1989, and runs a fleet of around 6,000 machines, from 15 locations with 650 employees. Its ownership includes private equity firm Angra.

This latest acquisition follows the take over of Motormac Rental in May and takes the Loxam Degraus branch network in Brazil to 42 locations with revenues last year of Br450 million (€85 million).

A Geradora chief executive Enilson Moreira De Lima will who remain in post, at least for an interim period, said: “We have dedicated the last three decades to building a success story. A Geradora is a market leader in the segments where it operates, and a company respected by its stakeholders, whose values are ethics, respect and responsibility in all its relationships. When we decided to hand over the control to another group, one of the major concerns was our legacy, and to maintain respectful relationship with our employees and our commitment to our customers, suppliers and the society. We feel very confident that we made the right choice. Loxam, thanks to its history, is aligned with our goals and therefore, it will be a great opportunity to, not only maintain what we have built, but also to continue writing this success story.”

Loxam chief executive Gérard Déprez added: “I am very pleased to welcome A Geradora and its team to the Loxam group. The company’s branch network, rental fleet, customer portfolio and expertise in power generation are very complementary to Loxam Degraus’ current generalist activity, and this transaction creates a true nationwide player. Only a few weeks after the completion of Motormac Rental’s acquisition, this second transaction demonstrates Loxam’s commitment to the development of its Brazilian operations.”
