Italian international oil & gas drilling company Bonassisa Drilling has purchased the first 55 tonne XCMG XCR 55L5_E Rough Terrain crane to arrive in Italy.

The new crane features a five section 43.6 metre main boom and can hand its rated capacity at a three metre radius and handle 11.1 tonnes on the full boom at a radius of nine metres. A 16 metre bi-fold swingaway extension which offsets at 15 or 30 degrees, takes maximum tip height to 62 metres. The overall width is three metres, overall length for transport is 13.76 metres while total transport weight is 41.8 tonnes, roughly evenly split between the two axles.

Bonassisa is based in Foggia in Southern Italy – north of Bari – and runs four Rough Terrain cranes of its own, renting in additional equipment as required. The company was formed in 1987 to exploit a new patent it had for an innovative system for the treatment of drilling wastewater, with the company becoming the first in Italy to use the innovative system for the management of mud resulting from drilling activities.
