25 years for Access Link

The Access Link, the UK and Ireland association of independent aerial lift rental companies, celebrated its 25th anniversary at its members’ meeting last Tuesday at The Forest of Arden Country Club in the English Midlands.

The meeting, hosted by Genie, was, as you might expect, well attended, and included presentations from the manufacturer covering its developments and plans for new products, services and support, including training and finance. Delegates also saw demonstrations of Genie’s latest models, including the 14ft GS-1432m and 40ft GS-4046 E-Drive slab electric scissor lifts, the S-60 FE hybrid telescopic boom lift, and the relaunched 45ft Z-45 J RT articulated boom lift.

The Genie road show was followed by James Akinson of Rouse Services – part of Ritchie Bros, group - discussing strategies to improve rental yields, while Josh Wallman of Capja covered the benefits of using QR codes. Clair Awty shared her ‘innovative’ marketing ideas, while Martin Wraith and Richard Whiting of IPAF updated the group on its latest projects.

During the evening event, also hosted by Genie, Access Link chairman John Ball reminisced on his dealings with Genie over the years, as did other Access Link members. Finally special recognitions was given to Malcolm Bowers, one of the founders of the Access Link, who attended as guest of honour.

Genie sales director Andrew Kendrick thanked members on behalf of the company and the Genie team for the opportunity to join the event as well as the business his company had received from members over the years.

A good number of members joined a round of golf the following day at the Forrest of Arden championship course.
