We have just learnt of a fatal crane incident that occurred on Monday near Farmington in Utah – north of Salt Lake City in the USA.
It seems the crane which appears to be a mid to large Kobelco Crawler was being derigged at the time, when a component, reportedly one of the blocks, broke free and landed on Darren Baddley, 42, who was working on site at the time. Tragically he was declared dead at the scene.
A statement from the Utah Department of Transportation said: “This morning there was a fatal construction incident involving a member of the West Davis Highway project crew. Two lanes of SB I-15 are currently closed. Utah’s transportation community is extremely close knit, and we all mourn the loss of this dedicated teammate.”
