Two men were injured in Boston, Massachusetts yesterday when a dropped load made contact with the scissor lift they were working from, causing it to overturn.
The incident occurred on a multi storey parking garage at Boston’s South Station, when part of the rigging failed on a large steel truss being lifted by a mobile crane to drop or tilt. As it dropped it struck the scissor lift, a small slab electric Skyjack scissor lift from the United Rentals fleet, causing it to overturn. The men were both injured and were taken to hospital but are reported to be in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
The site is managed by Suffolk Construction which confirmed the details of the incident stating that a temporary brace holding a steel truss failed causing the truss to tip and strike the lift. It also confirmed that the men are OK and expected to make a full recovery. OSHA is investigating.
